ICE - In Case of Emergency

Pondered by = Christine =

I rcvd some forwarded emails regarding the fllwg and decided to check it out, although the idea itself sounds logical enough already.

=====================================================================================
The ICE (In Case of Emergency) program was founded by paramedic Bob Brotchie in May 2005 - a program that in case of emergency, when you are unconscious/unresponsive and provided that you mobile phone is with you, paramedics, firefighters, police officers can identify your closed ones or your next kin to let them know your status and obtain important medical info.

Thus, it's very important that you enter emergency contact persons in the fllwg format for ease of ref (The number in front of the word ICE keeps the ICE contacts at the top of your contact list):

1ICE - Mom
2ICE - Dad
3ICE - etc

On the other hand, with mobile phones so vulnerable to theft, loss and damage, putting ICE info may landed on the hands of strangers, who may hv ill purposes. But then again, if you really think about it, when your phone is unfortunately in the possession of a stranger, with or without ICE, he/she can just as easily locate the contacts of your Mom, Dad and your other closed ones too.

This inexpensive idea may one day save your life!
