"Food is the most primitive form of comfort.”
Sheilah Graham (1904-1988)
One may eat to dissolve hunger.
One may eat when there is nothing else to do.
One may eat to keep the stress away (at least for those few mins!).
One may even eat for obligation.
I eat for pleasure.
Always have.
Breathing the fragrance before the food is in sight, thrills me.
Feeling the sensation on my tongue, excites me.
The lingering taste after each swallow, satisfies me.
But most of all, it's the companion that gratifies me.
"It's the company, not the cooking, that makes a meal."
Kirby Larson, Hattie Big Sky, 2006
