How To Train Your Dragon

Pondered by = Christine =

I hv seen a lot of boy-and-his-dog movies but this is my first boy-and-his-dragon stories. While filled with  the edge-of-your-seat adventures, vivid imagery and snappy writings balanced by an awwww-kinda-sweetness and comedy, this movie is highly original and was commented by my fren as the best movie she had watched by far this yr and I had to agree! DreamWorks has did it once again!

Screenwriters/co-directors Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders (the team behind "Lilo & Stitch") have made a witty bit of magic in the lush visuals and smart script out of Cressida Cowell's novel.

I especially loved when the filmmakers not only deepen their narrative but also the visual experience  in multiple occasions. Like during the vertiginous flying sequences, instead of continual yakking, they allow Hiccup to ride on his dear dragon silently, allowing all to take in the vista of the breath taking views of the landscapes. You feel like you can almost reach out to the sky and touch the clouds, as human and beast soar through the air. I think these touches are simply beautiful and moving!

Even though this is a cartoonish file, the key message that I took from it is that - Just because everyone is doing it and it has been done in a hundred years, it doesn't mean it's right. I hv heard a quote on this, it's just at the tip of my tongue. Can anyone help?

I almost didn't watch this movie coz I expected the least out of it but I walked out fully satisfied and smiling ~ flaming-ly brilliant!!!
